I am inspired by a lot of things; nature, whimsy, fantasy, analogue systems, stationery…the list goes on. For “Solace” it is really all about the feeling that nature gives. There is something so strange and raw about it, that in itself it almost doesn’t feel real. Yet it is the realest thing in existence.

The main pieces of “Solace” feature 3D ceramics, that pop out at the viewer. Not so much a window in, but the art spilling out of its portal.

The back features a hole for hanging (and indicating which way is up), the title, year, and my signature stamp.

I think that would make a very odd plate, and I highly discourage it. But I’m not your mom.
Though majority of these pieces are unglazed, and it is not recommended to eat off raw clay.

What is ‘normal’? And also, have you ever seen any pottery that is ‘normal’? There are some cool artists out there doing some wacky things with mugs!

But, yes and no? I fully intend to make some functional pieces, however what that function will be…that is yet to be seen!
